I’m Mike.  I graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2 ½ years, went straight to medical school then straight to residency, and then into the world of indentured servitude that is private practice.  Now the medical system has me bitter and cynical by day, but still hopeful and restless by night.  RS is but one of several business ventures that one day I hope will help pay my debts and allow me to drink beer on the beaches of Marco Island during the day and more beer at the Marco Movies at night.

Some of the things I say on this site are tongue in cheek, but the majority of them are based in no small part on true events or experiences.  Including my rants on lawyers.  (But names have been changed to protect the guilty.) 

And for the record, there are a few lawyers I have had to use that were competent and honest and, dare I say it, even likable.  But several have been dishonest in their dealings and borderline fraudulent in their billing.  And this applied equally to lawyers that I hired, or were assigned to me, or who were after me. 

But I digress.

Why is RS different?

*We get rid of inactive users, which saves you time.  RS is the only site that deletes a user if they do not log in to check mail within 10 days of receiving a message.  I know.  I tested them myself.  I still have a profile on a top site that is 7+ years old and I have NEVER logged in since I created the profile.  Yet I still get email notices of new mail waiting. 

*If a user is a troublemaker and sends offensive messages they can be blocked.  If they are blocked enough they are deleted.  However, users cannot block someone who has not initiated contact, thereby preventing a group of people from attacking another user by blocking them repeatedly, (a strategy of revenge which occurs regularly on other major sites).

*RS Point Rewards.  Earn points by participating on the site--posting messages on forums, receiving ‘thumbs up’ ratings from other users, sending messages, playing games.  Redeem points for prizes that are auctioned on the prize page, or use them to send virtual gifts, or even use them for utilities like file sharing.

*Extras like free eCards you can send to RS members or to friends/family.  Wallpaper.  Ringtone cutter where you can cut an mp3.  Classified Ads.  Streaming radio.  Live chat.  Dedicated mobile wap version.

*And of course we have all the usual perks too:  comprehensive search options, messaging, blogs, picture/video upload, forums and a privacy policy that tells you we don’t spam or waste your time by sending irrelevant emails.  Not to mention the most important perk:  NO COST TO YOU.

Last, I am the owner and try to be as responsive to suggestions or complaints as much as possible.  RS is not owned by a group of people or a big company.  It’s just me, so there is always accountability.  You can rest assured that I have no desire to spam you or otherwise harass you.  And even if I did want to do that I wouldn’t know how or have the time.  I have too much to do at the clinic to pay that malpractice insurance bill…
